Dr. Stanger earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, majoring in biochemistry and minoring in history. He received his medical degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in Bronx, New York. He then completed his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond where he served as Chief Resident from 2010-2011. Dr. Stanger completed a two-year fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at The Medical College of Virginia and also served as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Stanger joined The NeuroMedical Center’s Neurosurgery Department in July 2013 and is board certified in neurological surgery. He takes a conservative approach to treating the full range of adult neurosurgical conditions. Special interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spine surgery (cervical & lumbar), brain tumors, spine tumors, pituitary tumors, cranial surgery, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve, spinal cord stimulation (SCS), and baclofen pumps.
