Dr. Adrian Nugent is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Zachary, Louisiana.

Dr. Nugent earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Hunter College – City University of New York in 2005. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Medical University of the Americas in January of 2016.

He completed his internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (Bronx) in Bronx, New York. He then stayed within the Mount Sinai Health System where at Mount Sinai Morningside, he completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases, advanced cardiac catheterization, and interventional cardiology. At Mount Sinai Morningside, during his advanced fellowship, he completed the highest number of venous stent procedures in New York City. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Nugent has held leadership roles, including serving as the Wellness and Social Lead Fellow.

Dr. Nugent is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, and cardiovascular diseases and is board eligible in interventional cardiology. His research background includes microbiology investigations on Staphylococcus aureus at Mount Sinai, as well as experience in diagnostic product development at Sekisui Diagnostics America.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a member of the American College of Physicians and the Association of Ringside Physicians. He has been recognized with several academic and research honors, including the Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) award, a summer research fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and multiple Dean’s List honors at Hunter College.

Dr. Nugent specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease, with advanced training in endovascular interventions.
