A-HEC OF A SUMMER

Students who participated in the A-HEC of a Summer program at Lane RMC were Camryn Cannon, Alyssa Clement, Garbrielle Darby, Farryn Douglas, Jayla Hebert, Adrianna Holivay, Sydni Kofton, Destiny Montgomery, Cailyn Robertson, Stephanie Schlorke and Emma St. Romain. Instructor was Kelly Haynes.

Eleven area high school students were given a chance to explore different career opportunities in medicine by participating in the A-HEC of a Summer program at Lane Regional Medical Center. The program is sponsored by the Central Louisiana Area Health Education Center, and is an exciting opportunity for high school students who are interested in pursuing a healthcare career.

During a fifteen-day period in June, the students rotated through various hospital departments and job shadowed practicing healthcare professionals. They obtained first-hand knowledge about a variety of healthcare fields, learned about health issues and patient care, gained CPR certification and practiced taking vital signs. The program is a state accredited elective course, and students earn ½ unit of high school elective credit upon successful completion of the program.
