Zachary, LA — Lane Regional Medical Center will host a free virtual class, Newborn Feeding Basics, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Led by Kiara Carnes, RN, IBCLC, from Lane’s Labor & Delivery Unit, the class is designed to help new and expectant parents feel confident and informed as they begin their feeding journey. Topics will include the benefits of breastfeeding, understanding your baby’s hunger cues, the importance of skin-to-skin contact, what to expect in the early days, common challenges, and more.
“Feeding your newborn is one of the most personal and important parts of early parenting,” said Carnes. “This class is designed to empower new parents with the knowledge and support they need to feel confident, whether they choose to breastfeed, bottle-feed, or both. We’ll cover the basics, address common concerns, and ensure every participant leaves with practical tools and reassurance for their journey.”
