Presented by Americana, Level Homes, 100.7 The Tiger, and The Advocate, the 2017 Code Red Chili Cook-off held on Saturday, October 21st at the Pointe of Americana raised $26,000 for the Lane Regional Medical Center Foundation. 

A total of 23 teams entered the chili competition, comprised of 18 entries in the adult category and 5 entries for youth.  There were 15 entries for salsa. In addition to tasting some world-class chili and salsa, activities included a craft beer tasting, cake walk, Kid’s Zone, and live music by *Parish County Line*, *Sara Collins*, and *Big River Express*.

**YOUTH DIVISION**:

Paxton’s Party Chili, Head Cook – Pax Tranchina, age 6, from Pride

**ADULT DIVISION**:

Cool Beans, Head Cook – Robert Burns from Zachary

**SALSA:**

Triple S - Head Cook – Sean Sullivan, age 10, from Zachary

**PEOPLE's CHOICE CHILI AWARD**:

Level Gnomes at Americana, Head Cook – Bart Slater from Baton Rouge

**PEOPLE's CHOICE SALSA AWARD**:

The Grimm Eaters, Head Cook – George Ragsdale from Zachary

**BEST DECORATED TENT:**

Chili Express, Head Cook – Rightor Cobb from St. Gabriel

The 2017 Code Red Chili Cook-off was sponsored by: Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson**,** Rouses Markets, Charlet Funeral Home, Whitney Bank, Leader Title/Myles Law Firm, Complete Collision, John Hendry Insurance, Quorum Health Resources, Landmark Bank, Superior Ford of Zachary, Bank of Zachary and Tiger Canopy. Proceeds will benefit the many projects of Lane RMC Foundation.
