Lane Regional Medical Center and healthcare technology company SUNRx announced a new partnership to provide families in southern Louisiana with discount medications through the federal 340B program.
The federal 340B Program allows health care organizations like Lane Regional Medical Center to purchase medications at steep discounts and pass along the savings to eligible patients.
For the uninsured, patients can save up to 60% off the cost of their medications. The savings could mean the difference between life and death. One drug commonly used to treat heart disease that retails for about $120 for a 30-day supply costs only one tenth of that price under 340B.
Patients with prescription coverage will pay their co-pay as they do today. However, by participating in the program they can save on medications not covered by their plan while helping families who are less fortunate.
So the more people who participate, the better it is for everyone.
340B prescription discount cards are available at most physician offices and Lane Regional Medical Center. Simply take it along with your prescription to one of these participating pharmacies:
