Heart Clinic Opens in Zachary
Zachary – To better address the growing needs of the Zachary community, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) and Dr. Yunus Moosa announce the opening of their new office located at 6110 Main Street, Suite B on September 18. CIS joins Lane Regional Medical Center in an effort that brings world-class physicians, state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities and the latest technology to detect and treat heart and peripheral vascular disease to the area.
CIS is a comprehensive cardiovascular medical practice with offices throughout south Louisiana. Medical services available will include both cardiac and peripheral vascular evaluations and treatments, EKG, treadmill stress testing, echocardiography, nuclear medicine studies, and nutrition counseling.
"Our goal is to be easily accessible to the people of the Zachary community, providing quality comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients," says Moosa, Medical Director of CIS in Zachary. "As the baby-boomer generation gets older, their need for advanced cardiac care increases, and we need to be available for those needs."
South Louisiana has one of the highest incidences of heart disease in the industrialized world. One American dies every 32 seconds of cardiovascular disease, and Louisiana’s rate of heart disease is 10 times the national average.
Dr. Moosa brings many years of cardiovascular experience to the Zachary community. Prior to joining CIS, he served as the Director of Vascular Services at Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also served as the Director of Vascular Services for United Heart Associates at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dr. Moosa is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the Academy of Transcatheter Therapeutics and the American College of Angiology. He is also a member of the American Medical Association. He has written or co-authored numerous research papers, abstracts and medical presentations in his specialty.
Cardiovascular Institute of the South is one of the most respected groups of cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and thoracic surgeons, representing nearly every specialty in heart and circulatory medicine.
