History: An organizational meeting to establish a general acute care hospital in the northern part of East Baton Rouge parish was held in February 1957, and four months later, Hospital Service District #1 was created. When Lane opened in November, 1960, we were a 40-bed acute care not-for-profit hospital. Lane has continued to grow over the years by expanding facilities, updating technology, and offering new services.
Board of Commissioners: Lane Regional Medical Center is governed by a board of nine commissioners who are appointed by the Metropolitan Council of East Baton Rouge Parish.
Terms are four years:

Board Members: Keith Elbourne, M.D., Pat Gauthier, Jimmy Jackson, Joan Lansing, Judy Myles, Frank Ragsdale, Mayor Harold Rideau, and Mark Thompson.
